Ontario M2 Motorcycle Road Test
Approx. 20 minutes
The M2 Road Test (M1 Exit Test) evaluates essential motorcycle handling skills in a controlled parking lot setting, either at a DriveTest Centre or through a certified rider training provider.
Driver Eligibility & Timing
- M1 Holding Period: Hold your M1 permit for a minimum of 60 days before taking the test.
- Permit Expiry: Complete and pass the exam within your permit's 90-day validity period.
- Documentation: Present your valid, physical M1 licence card at check-in.
Mandatory Protective Gear
Examiners will turn you away if you lack complete riding gear. You must wear:
- Helmet & Vision: A certified, undamaged motorcycle helmet equipped with a visor, or paired with safety glasses/goggles.
- Body Coverage: Heavy-duty motorcycle or leather jacket, durable long pants, and full-fingered leather or heavy riding gloves.
- Footwear: Sturdy boots that fully cover and protect the ankles.
Vehicle Requirements
You must supply a roadworthy motorcycle (unless provided by a private training course) that meets these standards:
- Documentation & Plate: Valid registration, pink insurance slip, and a properly mounted, clean licence plate.
- Lighting & Controls: Functioning turn signals, brake lights, headlight, horn, and engine kill switch.
- Mechanical Condition: Safe tires with proper tread depth, fully operational brakes, and no active fluid leaks.
Generally available mid-May to mid-October, weather permitting.
